I sculpted some mushroom like, tentacle waving creatures to be my Nurglings. As much as I like GW's models I wanted something more woodys(Not a real word.). I researched carnivorous and parasitic types of plants. I like to imagine that once they have ensnared their prey they use little sharp teeth under the caps to chow down.
A miniature conversion blog of a complete amateur. Here I will post my ideas and document my progression into an above average sculptor, converter, scratch builder and painter. I have loads of ideas but making those a reality is a little more tricky. I collect Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader era Space Orks, play Age of Sigmar and Malifaux.

Shopping Spree... again!
Smile! I got some Ogre heads to add to my Giant, because one head is just not good enough for a servant of Nurgle.

Age of Sigmar - Orruks

| Miniwars: The Orruks Ironjaws |
How 40K are the new Orruk models? Lovely models but way to space aged for my liking. I would totally use them if I played 40K. Thoughts?

Forest of Nurgle - Fuelling My Tea and Coffee Habits
I made the most of the good weather on Tuesday by making some bases for my Plaguebearers and setting up my high tech spray paint station (cardboard box) in the garden. I use coffee grounds and two types of tea for these bases. Super simple, nothing fancy.
The end results. I decided to spray the bases a different colour to the models. I don't know if that was a good idea or not. I'll let you know once they're all painted up.

Shopping Spree
As you can see there is a lot of love between me and the boyfriend when it comes to Warhammer. The 'he' that is referred to is my giant. I've always wanted this model and finally have an excuse to use it. I also got a Reaper mini to be my Herald of Nurgle, Sisters of the Thorn for Pox Riders and some Army Painter Bone colour to base them all.

Age of Sigmar - Elven Plaguebears of Nurgle

Here are some WIP shots of my Elven Plaguebearers. I've used my old Empire Flagellants and some of my boyfriend's Harlequin masks as the base of my Plague Doctor masks. I tried to sculpt puss and scabs all over a few of the models but the greenstuff flaked off. I'm going to try out mixing bicarb into some PVA glue and paint to create the effect I'm looking for. I'm going to attach real moss to cloaks eventually. For my first attempt at using greenstuff I was pretty pleased. See the rest under the cut.

Age of Sigmar - The Forest of Nurgle Sketches
Here are a few of my dreaful initial sketches for my Nurgle/Wood Elf AoS army. I wanted most of my units to be masked as though the elves were ashamed of what they have now become. The Plaguebearers were heavily inspired by Tudor plague doctors. The last sketch is a Nurgle Beast I hope to sculpt from scratch.

My Rogue Trader Era 40k Space Orks
Since this blog is meant to be Ork focused I thought I had better introduce the boys. I've just finished painting them and this is the first Warhammer painting I have done in a long time. Be nice, the photos show up ever misplaced brush stroke thanks to my macro lens. I will attempt to take better photos in the future.
The image above is the first of my two 1991 Mekboys. I tried to keep my colour scheme simple, Rogue Trader inspired. No guts and grime on these Orks! Click the image to see all the nitty gritty.

Warhammer - My Introduction to Age of Sigmar
This is primarily a blog to feature my Rogue Trader era Ork builds, so let's start with something entirely un-ork.
I used to play Warhammer fantasy back in the day, Empire if you must know. As a learner with no head for numbers I found it incredibly difficult to rock up at my local GW store and play a game with my friends/teachers. I felt everyone's eyes on me, judging my every idiotic illogical move. I couldn't stick it. Stupid, I know.
Move on to 2016, a different bunch of nerd friends and more income to indulge our whims. I hear what's going on and how GW have rebuilt Fantasy from the group up. Age of Sigmar is here. Initially I am only mildly interested because of the simplified maths but I know my geek friend's love 40K and their complex stats and points values. Then I stumble across this article-
Age of Sigmar – The Golden Opportunity by Sam Nolton.
I found Nolton's enthusiasm infectious so my boyfriend and I began to read the rules and war scrolls. I'm delighted that there are now only four pages of rules, even I can mange that! I knew I wanted to play something Chaos tainted because it seemed to fit perfectly with where the fluff was at; everyone is scrambling about in the dirt, trying to pick themselves up and take stock of what remains.
Ever since I played a Navigator in the Fantasy Flight RPG of Rogue Trade I have loved the idea of Chaos and The Warp. As a Navigator I was constantly having to tap into my natural Psyker abilities to lead our ship to safety whilst facing the devastating consequences of succumbing to allure of The Warp if I failed. The further I fell to The Warp the less human I became, physically and mentally a ticking time bomb of corruption.
Eventually this lead me to the idea of Chaos tainted forest. Here's the fluff-
Chaos has reached further then it ever has before and no one is safe. The Wood Elves, holed up in their forest fortress choose not to fight (getting a bit Ent a la LOTR). Chaos finds a way to their door none the less. The forest becomes sick and is dying at the hand of Nurgle; Lord of Decay, Master of Pestilence and The Great Corruptor. Their rulers must choose to surrender themselves whatever fate Nurgle has in store for them or see their beloved forest and everything that lives inside it defiled by filth. They choose to bend the knee and on a whim Nurgle spares their lives by taking them into his service. Nurgle begins to grown himself a new garden. It becomes known as The Forest of Nurgle.
